CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY!
Thursday, July 4, in Peachtree City

Official Peachtree City 4th of July T-Shirts Peachtree City’s 2019 4th of July T-Shirts are still available at the Peachtree City Visitors Center (upstairs at The Avenue – 244 City Circle).  One shirt for $15 or two for $25.  The Visitors Center is open this week, Monday – Friday 8-5 (including July 4th!).

Visiting Golf Carts Welcome July 2 – 6 – Each year, Peachtree City’s golf cart registration requirements are waived beginning July 2 and ending July 6 for the annual 4th of July activities.  This allows for cart rentals from places outside the community (and for our local golf cart companies to use extra carts not normally rented in Peachtree City).  It also allows visitors with golf carts to bring their carts and help us celebrate.

  • Reminder:  Golf carts are not allowed on Georgia Highway 54, Georgia Highway 74, Peachtree Parkway, or Crosstown Rd, except at authorized crossings.  There are NO grade crossings authorized for Highway 74, and the only legal grade crossing on Highway 54 is at the traffic signal by Steinmart.  All other crossings for the state highways are bridges or tunnels.

Blankets & Tarps – Peachtree City ordinance prohibits any “space saving” for the parade or fireworks before dawn (6:00 a.m.) on Thursday, July 4.  At dawn, blankets and tarps only are allowed – no stakes, tents, barricades, or other items can be used to save a spot.

  • No blankets or tarps will be allowed at City Hall Plaza before the 4th Fest begins at 5:00 p.m.
  • No blankets, tarps, or golf cart parking on any path bridge for fireworks viewing
  • Please do not block paths or streets in advance of or during fireworks.
  • Blankets placed early will be removed and thrown away.
  • Although reminder signs will be placed around town, this rule applies whether or not a sign is present.

Independence Day Parade – 9:00 a.m., on Peachtree Parkway S.  Grand Marshal: 2018 State and Southeast Regional Champs, Peachtree City American Little League Team.   The parade begins just north of Braelinn Golf Club and proceeds, crosses Crosstown, turns west on McIntosh Trail, and ends at the Recreation Complex across from Huddleston Elementary.  The parade will be held rain or shine (only dangerous weather would be a cause for cancellation).

  • Traffic Advisory - Thursday Morning, July 4, 7:00 a.m. – Noon.  Expect delays on Peachtree Parkway South, Robinson Road, McIntosh Trail, and Crosstown Road beginning at 7:00 a.m.  Once started, the parade will utilize the southbound lanes of Robinson Road to the northbound lanes of Peachtree Parkway, to McIntosh Trail.  Access to neighborhoods along the parade route will be severely restricted during the parade and cleanup. Anyone needing emergency access should contact the nearest police officer or call 770-461-HELP.
  • Parade Safety Reminder - Please keep children (and adults) out of the roadway during the parade.  The candy that lands in the street may be tempting, but please make sure children stay behind the lines while the parade vehicles are passing by to avoid serious injury.

Braelinn Village Center Parade After-Party – 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., at Braelinn Shopping Center (Crosstown Rd.).  After the parade, stop by for face painting, festive hair, kids’ crafts, lemonade, and more!

Fourth Fest at City Hall Plaza – 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.  Family-friendly event featuring live music, entertainment, several food vendors, and activities for the whole family!  Plus, the location puts you front and center for the fireworks over Lake Peachtree!

Food Truck Frenzy at The Avenue – 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.  Brainfood Garlic Grilled Cheese, The Mad Greek, Dixie Dogz, Mitchells Shack Attack, King Kabob, and King of Pops will be on hand at this popular fireworks viewing spot!

  • NO PARKING on Hwy 54 – No parking will be permitted on Hwy 54 for viewing the fireworks.
  • Traffic Advisory - Thursday Evening, July 4 - Due to the large number of people trying to exit Peachtree City on Hwy 54 and Hwy 74, many traffic lights will be placed on flash mode.  If a police officer is present to direct traffic, drivers should always obey that officer.  If a traffic light is on flash, and there is no officer present, drivers are reminded that a FLASHING YELLOW light means to proceed with caution.  A FLASHING RED light means to stop and yield right-of-way to other vehicles in the intersection.
  • NO PERSONAL FIREWORKS OR SPARKLERS ON CITY PROPERTY (roads or parks).  Sec. 38-52 of Peachtree City’s code prohibits use, igniting, storage or manufacturing, sale, or exhibition of any fireworks, including pyrotechnic devices on any city owned parks, recreation areas, and greenbelts (excludes residential streets).
