The History Time Line committee would like input on the proposed text for six bronze plaques outlining the history of the Peachtree City area prior to the city's incorporation in 1959. Review Draft Plaque Language (PDF)
A committee of volunteers developed a History Timeline for Peachtree City's municipal plaza. The project consists of an in-ground timeline with each year marked, and bronze plaques noting major and events during the City's first 50 years.
This conceptual drawing shows the Timeline extending around the fountain, covering 200 years of Peachtree City History.
Founders' Corner and beginning of timeline. The History Time Line will begin at a Founders' Corner closest to the entrance to the plaza, and mark a full 100 years ending at the corner nearest the entrance to the Library, where there will be a place for a Centennial Corner to celebrate Peachtree City's 100th Anniversary in 2059. The goal of the project is to provide a physical location that will let residents reflect on our past, document our history, and inspire our successors who visit the plaza.
The committee is looking for additional volunteers to help guide the project during construction and into the future, and for donations to fund the project. The committee has raised $35,500 in donations toward the $65,000 cost, leaving $29,500 outstanding. Donations have ranged from $25.00 to $10,000 (thank you Peachtree City Rotary Club!), and the remaining amount is approximately $2.00 per household. Residents, businesses, and organizations who would like contribute time, knowledge, and/or funds to this unique project can do so below:
