Radon Kit

UGA Extention Logo

In collaboration with the University of Georgia Extension and the Georgia Public Library Service, each library in the Flint River Regional Library System has a Radon Kit available for checkout. By checking out a monitor with their library card, patrons can easily evaluate the radon levels in their living spaces, and determine if they are in danger. Each radon kit contains two QR codes: one leads patrons to an instructional video, while the other directs patrons to a website to submit their results. If patrons report their findings to the UGA Extension, the data will be used in scientific research and to raise awareness of radon levels in Georgia.

How it Works

  • The kit can be checked out at the library circulation desk. Pass is eligible for holds.
  • Each Radon Kit contains a monitor, instruction booklet, as well as two (2) QR codes with an instructional video and website to submit results. Radon testing within a home takes two (2) weeks.
  • Must have valid PINES library card to checkout.
  • Check out period is two weeks (14 days) with the option of two (2) renewals. Late fee is $3/day.
  • The Radon Kit must be returned to the lending library.
  • Please visit UGA Radon Testing website for more information.
  • Replacement Cost: $150.00.
