How are my taxes calculated?

Formula

(Property Value x Assessment Rate) - Exemptions) x Property Tax Rate = Tax Bill

Example

Taxbill Proportion- $508,732 Property - Taxes Due of $6,173.36

    1. The property value is the full market value appraised by the Assessors. All property in Georgia is taxed at an assessment rate of 40% of its full market value.    $100,000 x 40% = $40,000
    2. The taxable value is then multiplied by the millage rate. 1 mill = $1 tax per $1,000 taxable value. Peachtree City's 2023 Millage rate is 6.043, which means property owners pay $6.043 per $1,000 of taxable value. The average home price in Peachtree City is $508,732 x 40% = $203,492.80 x (6.043/1,000) = $1,229.71 would be your tax bill due to Peachtree City. (Peachtree City's Senior exemption is $5,000 however it is not included in this example.)
    3. Residents pay approximately $3.36 per day in taxes to Peachtree City for a $508,732 home ($1,229.71/365= $3.36).
