2017 Project 33: Police Dash Camera Replacement

Status: Completed

Project Number: 33

Category: Public Safety

Location: City-wide

Proposed Project Year: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, & 2022

Original Project Budget: $120,000 - 20 Units at $6,000 ea.

Project/Goal Description:

The department utilizes patrol vehicle video camera systems on a daily basis. They are fundamental to departmental operations. The video camera system records audio and video events vital to gathering evidence and documenting police-related matters. These replacements will allow the department to take outdated and unreliable systems out of service. With the retirement mileage of patrol vehicles moved to 125,000, many units have exceeded their useful life and are neither supported by Windows nor Coban Technologies.

2022 Progress Update:  This project was completed in 2021.  This investment represents a significant upgrade in technology for the police department over their old system, making storage and retrieval easier and more efficient.

SPLOST Actuals Total: $120,000
