2017 Project 29: Ambulance Replacement

Status: Completed

Project Number: 29

Category: Public Safety

Location: Weber Station #83, S Peachtree Parkway

Proposed Project Year: 2018

Original Project Budget: $246,000

Project/Goal Description:

Advanced life support ambulances are strategically located throughout the City. Each ambulance carries an array of Advanced Life Support equipment and medications to treat a wide range of medical and trauma-related emergencies. This replacement request will fulfill the department’s objectives of meeting standards for replacement cycles of front-line emergency vehicles by moving this 2008 ambulance into reserve status. We anticipate the vehicle will have well over 100,000 miles and it is expected to serve for another 25,000 miles. With this purchase, the department will surplus a higher mileage 2008 model ambulance with an estimated 125,000 plus miles by the time of replacement.

December 2022 Progress Update:  Medic 85 was purchased using the 2017 Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).   Medic 85 is the primary response unit for the new Quick Response Station on South Hwy 74.

SPLOST Actuals Total: $256,950

SPLOST Funds Over/Under Budget: $(10,950)

Medic 85 was budgeted at $246,000 for this replacement ambulance, however, this ambulance was $10,950 above the budgeted amount.  This amount was allocated from the SPLOST project contingency.   A small amount of additional equipment, necessary to put this vehicle into service was incorporated into the Fire department’s FY2019 requested budget.
