Project/Goal Description:
Throughout Peachtree City, there are 29 bridges ranging in size from small creek crossings to large Gateway Bridges that provide grade-separated crossings along HWY 74/HWY 54. Bridges are a critical component of the multi-use path system and require maintenance to ensure public safety and visual appeal. This project identifies eleven (11) bridges with varying degrees of maintenance and repair demands.
December 2023 Progress Update: This Bridge and tunnel maintenance is an annual endeavor that does not have an end date. Public Works has contracted with engineering firms with nationwide experience in bridge and tunnel construction and maintenance experience. These firms perform routine inspections for the City and prepare maintenance activity reports for Public Works to follow. Public Works staff has either performed maintenance or contracted out maintenance on several multi-use tunnels and bridges in the City and keeps track of completed work and ongoing needs. Some examples of maintenance work have ranged from a simple painting of railings to total overhaul and rehab of a bridge.
