2017 Project 22: Replacement Bridge – HWY 54 at Lake Peachtree

Status: In Progress

Project Number: 22

Category: Multi-Use Path System

Location: Parallel to HWY 54 at Lake Peachtree

Proposed Project Year: 2019

Original Project Budget: $539,000

Project/Goal Description: Replace the existing single-lane multi-use path bridge with a 14’ wide multi-use path bridge to allow for two-way cart, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic.

December 2022 Progress Update: The City has contracted with a design-build contractor to perform the design and construction of this bridge.  Currently, Public Works has received approval from the Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) for a temporary path to be located on DOT right-of-way during construction.  This now enables the designer to complete the analysis of alternatives for the City to review, to allow the bridge to be closed for up to 8 months during construction with a detour onto the shoulder of HWY 54. City Council approved to move forward with the construction portion of the project in December of 2022.
