  1. Outdoor Burn Ban In Effect Until October 1

    May 1 - September 30 @ The Outdoor Burning Ban affects 54 counties in Georgia, including 19 counties in the metro Atlanta area.

    The State Mandated Outdoor Burning Ban begins Tuesday, May 1, and is in effect through Sunday, September 30. No burn permits for outdoor burning will be issued during this time. Recreational fires and fires used for cooking are allowed and do not require a permit. For more information, call the Fire Marshal’s Office at 770-631-2526.

  5. CAREing Paws, Come Read to a Dog

    The CAREing Paws Program utilizes registered therapy dogs to improve literacy skills for children. If your child struggles with reading this may be for you. Children must have a basic knowledge of reading. Open to children in Grades K-5. The library offers six 20 minute sessions. Parents must reserve a time slot in advance for their child. Children may bring a book or choose a book at the library.Registration Required. For more information or to register call the library at 770-631-2520.

  6. Super Saturdays: Father Goose Storytelling Concert

    Members of the Southern Crescent Storytellers will present “Father Goose: Just Guys Telling Stories” concert. The program is intended for all ages groups and light refreshments will be served.   11. Programs with Pop: Fortson 4-H Center Reptile Program (Ages 6-9)

    This fun, educational, live animal "show and tell" will leave you begging for more reptile fun. Trained Fortson 4H staff show off some of their favorite inhabitants and there is no telling who will make an appearance. Maybe an alligator, python, or tortoise, but that is only some of the animals that maybe joining the fun. Attendees will learn interesting facts about how each animal eats, sleeps, and lives in the wild. And who knows you might get to pet a reptile? Registration is required.
